The Junior Polydron Set (code 60-6000) is a 124-piece construction kit from Polydron for children aged 3 years and over. Junior Polydron fits together easily and stays together, which makes it simple for younger children to handle. The pieces are made from durable polypropylene, and the set comes with a leaflet of assembly instructions and model ideas.
The 124 pieces include 15 triangles, 15 triangles with a hole, 30 squares, 30 squares with a hole, 12 spacers, 4 wheels, 6 axles and 12 figures (6 child and 6 adult). Each square has 5.5 cm sides. Children can build cars, planes and many other models, and the soft-touch wheels push on easily to make vehicles. Building, pushing and pulling their models helps children understand how things work and supports coordination.
Hands-on construction gives many learners with SEND and learning differences a concrete way to plan, build and test an idea. Junior Polydron pieces are designed for younger children to manipulate, so joining them supports fine motor control without too much strain. Children can follow a model from the leaflet or build freely, and play with the finished vehicles and figures gives a clear reason to keep going.
The Junior Polydron Set is available to order from The Dyslexia Shop, a UK specialist in resources for SEND and learning differences, for use in nursery, school or at home.
