Original Polydron Mighty Box - 223-Piece Construction Set • The Dyslexia Shop

What is the Original Polydron Mighty Box?

The Original Polydron Mighty Box (code 20-5005R) is a 223-piece construction set from Polydron for children aged 4 and over. It contains 100 solid Polydron pieces, 108 open Frameworks pieces, 3 swivel joints, 4 axle mounts, 4 stub axles and 4 large wheels, plus a guide. The pieces are made from BPA free materials and supplied in a recyclable cardboard box.

What can children build with the Mighty Box?

The Mighty Box contains 80 solid equilateral triangles, 20 solid squares, 48 framework equilateral triangles, 24 framework squares, 24 right-angle framework triangles and 12 isosceles framework triangles. With the wheels, axles and swivel joints, children can go beyond polyhedra to build vehicles and models with moving parts. A free model guide covering the Midi, Mega and Mighty Boxes can be downloaded from Polydron.

For schools

Supports 2D and 3D shape, nets, faces, edges and vertices at KS1 and KS2.
Wheels, axles and swivel joints link maths to design and technology projects.
223 pieces give several pupils enough to build at the same time.
Hands-on models support Quality First Teaching, group work and SEND provision.

For parents and home use

Large enough for ambitious models and shared building at home.
Building vehicles that roll gives children a clear, motivating goal.
Joining pieces and fitting axles gives regular fine motor practice.
Suitable from age 4, and works with other Original, Frameworks and Crystal Polydron sets.

Supporting learners with SEND and learning differences

Hands-on construction helps many learners with SEND and learning differences understand shape ideas that can feel abstract on paper. Open frames show a shape's edges and solid pieces show its faces, so children can compare them by touch and sight. Fitting axles and wheels gives fine motor practice, and a model that moves gives a clear, visible result for effort.

The Original Polydron Mighty Box is available to order from The Dyslexia Shop, a UK specialist in resources for SEND and learning differences, for use at home or in the classroom.
