What is the Original Polydron Mega Box?

The Original Polydron Mega Box (code 20-5003R) is a 126-piece construction set from Polydron for children aged 4 and over. It contains 70 solid Polydron pieces, 54 open Frameworks pieces and 2 swivel joints, plus a guide. The pieces are made from BPA free materials and supplied in a recyclable cardboard box.

What can children build with the Mega Box?

The Mega Box contains 60 solid equilateral triangles, 10 solid squares, 24 framework equilateral triangles, 12 framework squares, 12 right-angled framework triangles, 6 isosceles framework triangles and 2 swivel joints. Children can build solid polyhedra, open frame models and designs with turning parts using the swivel joints. A free model guide covering the Midi, Mega and Mighty Boxes can be downloaded from Polydron.

Supporting learners with SEND and learning differences

Hands-on construction helps many learners with SEND and learning differences understand shape ideas that can feel abstract on paper. Open frames show the edges of a shape and solid pieces show its faces, so children can compare them by touch and sight. Joining pieces builds fine motor control, and models with swivel joints give a satisfying, visible result.

The Original Polydron Mega Box is available to order from The Dyslexia Shop, a UK specialist in resources for SEND and learning differences, for use at home or in the classroom.
