The Original Polydron Super Value Set (code 10-3010) is a 456-piece bulk construction kit from Polydron for children aged 4 and over. It combines Original Polydron and Polydron Frameworks pieces: 80 solid squares, 100 solid equilateral triangles, 80 framework squares and 160 framework equilateral triangles, plus 12 large wheels, 12 axle mounts and 12 stub axles.
With over 450 pieces, a whole class can build at once. Pieces snap together to form a strong hinge, so flat nets fold into cubes, pyramids, prisms and larger polyhedra. Open framework pieces show the edges and inside of a shape, while solid pieces show the faces. Wheels and axles turn models into moving vehicles. Each square measures 7.3 x 7.3 cm. Polydron describes the set as a resource for teaching shape and space, 2D and 3D geometry, and design and technology.
Hands-on construction helps many learners with SEND and learning differences understand maths ideas that can feel abstract on paper. With the Polydron Super Value Set, children can compare a solid face with an open frame of the same shape, and count edges and vertices by touch. Joining pieces builds fine motor control, and the four colours give clear visual cues. Tasks can be repeated and adjusted to each learner's pace.
The Original Polydron Super Value Set is available to order from The Dyslexia Shop, a UK specialist in resources for SEND and learning differences, for schools, clubs and families.
