What is the Hashmag Polydron Class Set?

The Hashmag Polydron Class Set (code 55-8010) is a 72-piece magnetic construction kit from Polydron for children aged 3 and over. It contains 36 triangles and 36 squares in six translucent colours, plus a building guide. The pieces connect magnetically, so children can move quickly from flat designs to solid models.

What can a class build with 72 Hashmag pieces?

With 72 pieces, several children can build at once. They can join triangles and squares into 2D nets, then raise them into cubes, pyramids, prisms and larger structures. Colour coding on the pieces helps children understand polarity, so they can see which edges will attract. The translucent colours let light through, which adds interest to pattern and colour work. Hashmag is compatible with Magnetic Polydron, so the set can be combined with existing magnetic resources.

For schools

  • Supports shape and space work in EYFS and KS1, from naming shapes to building simple 3D models.
  • Links to KS2 maths on nets, faces, edges and vertices.
  • 72 pieces give a small group enough material to build and compare models side by side.
  • A concrete, hands-on resource for Quality First Teaching and SEND provision.
  • Packed in a sturdy, reusable and recyclable carton for classroom storage.

For parents and home use

  • A larger set for siblings or friends to build together at home.
  • Magnetic pieces support open-ended play with quick, satisfying results.
  • Joining and separating pieces gives regular fine motor practice.
  • The building guide gives families ideas to start with.

Supporting learners with SEND and learning differences

Hands-on magnetic construction can help learners with SEND and learning differences make sense of shape and space. Children can hold a model, count its faces and pull it apart to see the net again. The translucent colours and colour coding give strong visual cues, and the magnets give instant feedback when two pieces connect. Repeating a build helps children practise at their own pace.

The Hashmag Polydron Class Set is available to order from The Dyslexia Shop, a UK specialist in resources for SEND and learning differences, for classrooms, nurseries and homes.
