140 prompts to help kids (& their grown-ups) name, understand, and talk through their feelings. Co-created with love by families and professionals.
Emotions Are Human is a game for talking about feelings with kids 5 and up. Grown-ups included.
Made with real families, this deck holds 140 prompts that help your kid:
Every feeling has a job. Fear keeps us safe. Sadness asks for company. Anger protects what we love. Kids learn early that their feelings aren't welcome, usually as "calm down, you're fine", and then they get good at hiding them. Pushing a feeling away doesn't make it leave. It gets louder, or it comes out at the people they love.
The cards are grouped by feeling, so you can pull the one you need: angry, scared, sad, frustrated, jealous, lonely, worried, embarrassed, disappointed, bored, proud, excited, calm, happy. There's a set on saying no, and a set on feeling safe. Twenty-eight cards carry an 8+ mark for older kids.

Who it's for
We recommend it for kids 5 and up, with a parent, grandparent, teacher or counselor.
With younger kids, you may want to read the questions and activities out loud to them instead of having them read it themselves. 28 prompts are marked 8+ for older kids, and we include guides for using the cards with kids 11 and up.
It is never too late. Adults enjoy these just as much, and some of us need them more. You can use this deck with other adults, or on your own, to give yourself the conversations you did not get as a kid.
