140 prompts for families with kids 5 and up, about your habits, your history and your hopes. Co-created with love by real families and professionals.

Families Are Human is a game for the whole table, kids to elders.

Made for every generation at once, this deck holds 140 prompts that help you:

Ask about the habits, history and hopes you've never put into words
See each other past the roles you play at family gatherings
Get the stories written down or recorded before they're gone

No one person holds your whole family story. It's scattered across everyone's memories, and the kids ask the questions the elders never would, while the elders hold what everyone else has forgotten. When each generation understands what it took to make their lives possible, they meet life with more gratitude.

The two role cards are the part that sets this deck apart. The Curious One keeps the story going, with a list of follow-ups on the back: and then what, how old were you, who else was there, what did it smell like, what do you want us to remember. The Family Scribe captures it, with the etiquette included: ask before recording, record only the people who say yes, mark today's date. Pass the roles around the circle whenever you want.

Family can be whoever you love and feel responsible to. Blended, adoptive, step, fostered, chosen. However yours is shaped, this deck is yours.
