Alsatian stoneware glazed in a deep treacle brown, pooling glossy through the well and thinning to a dry matte along the rim. The set runs from small kougloff molds through oval baking dishes to handled stew pots, each one thrown and glazed by hand, so no two match exactly. Firing specks scattered through the clay, glaze skips at the edges, and old knife marks across the bases of the dishes. Bought as a working kitchen set, and it still reads as one.
