We are all operating on the quiet assumption that there is plenty of time. It is a useful assumption most of the time, right up until something happens to somebody close to you and the whole thing goes transparent for a week or two, and then quietly reassembles itself.

This design is not subtle about the reminder and does not need to be. It looks a great deal more like a party than a warning, which is the correct read of it. The point is not to live in dread of running out, which is its own kind of waste. The point is that the ordinary Tuesday you are currently treating as a placeholder is in fact one of the days, and it counts the same as the big ones.

So make the call you have been meaning to make. Go to the thing. Say the embarrassing true sentence out loud to the person it is about. Almost nobody looks back and wishes they had been more restrained with the people they loved.

There is no rehearsal running. This is it, and it is already very good.
