Silk chapan coat from the mid-19th century. The outer fabric is a blue-ground silk brocade with a scrolling floral pattern. The robe is lined with multiple fabrics, including a vivid red-and-yellow cotton and sections of silk ikat. This layering reflects the rich textile vocabulary of the region and the practice of pieced linings in historic Central Asian garments.
