The object in the selected region is a traditional hand-woven bamboo tea roasting basket, historically known in Chinese culture as a “Pei Long”.
It has a clear hourglass shape with a wider top rim, a narrowed middle, and a flared, sturdy base. The weave uses tight diagonal patterns, with reinforced split-bamboo bands along the rims and middle for extra stability.
In traditional Chinese and Taiwanese tea production, these baskets were inverted or set over gentle charcoal heat to slow-bake and dry fresh tea leaves, drawing out moisture and curing them.
