Brake Free works by using onboard sensors (accelerometer and gyrometer) and a patented algorithm to automatically activate a panel of 100 super-bright LEDs.
So even if you never touch your brake lever or pedal, if you down shift, or make any other sudden moves, the brake light automatically activates.
It sounds complex—and it is—but the user experience couldn't be simpler.
Just hit the single button to activate the device, use the same, single button to toggle through the 3 riding modes, and the rest is all automatic.
- Mode 1 – Standard / Active Mode: All LED panels are fully lit as running lights.
- Mode 2 – Pulsing Mode: The left and right LED panels pulse for extra attention (requires the battery to be more than 25% charged).

Mode 3 – Stealth Mode: Only the center top and bottom LED panels stay on as running lights to save battery.
(Note: In all three running modes, braking or decelerating will automatically trigger all LED panels to blast at 100% brightness).
The device is totally autonomous, and works on any bike, and with just about any helmet.
*Shoei RF-1400 users -- due to the architecture of the back of this helmet, you'll need a special adapter to get a clean install.
