The aNueNue Koa Bird Soprano is the smallest voice in aNueNue's flagship 3K Bird series, built around Japanese luthier Mitsuta Morihiko's signature Mount Fuji-voiced X-bracing. Carved from Selected 4A Hawaiian Koa throughout, it carries the same jaw-dropping curl and figuring as its concert and tenor siblings, in the tightest, most immediate-sounding body of the family.
The body is bound in rosewood with the Bird series' signature moon-curve purfling, and the classic ebony headstock is set with a mother-of-pearl aNueNue logo. A spalted maple soundhole rosette and matching moon-phase fretboard inlays carry through the series' visual language, while an ebony bridge, buffalo bone nut and saddle, and Gotoh UPT 1:4 planetary tuners round out the appointments. The cutaway gives easy access to the top frets despite the soprano's tiny scale.
World of Ukes' review called it "one of the best ukuleles ever made in the East," praising a crisp, clear attack with defined mids and strong bass "in a perfect union of balance" - and noted it barely loses volume even right up the top of the neck. Comes with aNueNue's Blue Hardshell Case.
