Azalai is a warm, radiant fragrance built around saffron, blood orange and amber.
Bright citrus opens the scent before saffron and dried fruit introduce a richer, golden sweetness. Gum acacia adds a soft, syrupy quality, balanced by salty amber and incense, while mint brings an unexpected freshness. Velvione, a smooth powdery musk, gives the fragrance a soft, skin-like finish.
The Azalai is an ancient caravan route across the Ténéré region of the Sahara, used for centuries to transport salt and other goods. Stora Skuggan’s fragrance also references the Tree of Ténéré, an acacia that survived alone in the desert along the route, around 150km from the nearest tree where the scent tells the story of the tree and the goods passing along the route.
Saffron, amber and incense evoke the heat and colour of the landscape, while mint tea and dried fruit reference the Tuareg caravan riders who travelled through it.
