FlightScope X3C DIY Enclosure Golf Simulator

Snow on the driveway, a Tuesday night, and you are still hitting driver, with the FlightScope X3C reading every shot from behind the ball. Choose the screen size, mat and projector here, watch the build take shape in 3D at real size, and check out without waiting on a quote.

The FlightScope X3C DIY Enclosure Golf Simulator is a complete home golf simulator package built around the FlightScope X3C launch monitor: a Carl's Place DIY enclosure with a premium impact screen in six sizes, a Real Feel hitting mat, and a short-throw laser projector with its ceiling mount. Every pick updates the price and the 3D view, and the whole build goes to your cart as one package. It is for the golfer who wants one order for the whole room instead of sourcing a screen, frame, mat and projector separately.

FlightScope X3C Launch Monitor
Launch Monitor

FlightScope X3C

FlightScope X3C is the first tracking radar built with aerospace carbon fiber materials, with each shell individually crafted rather than moulded in volume. It reports 50 data parameters through patented Fusion Tracking, tracking the ball from impact to landing outdoors and delivering accurate chipping and putting data that most radar units cannot. Auto-leveling feet and an internal camera make setup quick, and the unit runs up to 6 hours on a charge.

It ships with 12 E6 Connect courses for iOS and PC - including Pebble Beach and the Old Course at St Andrews - so there is no software to buy before your first round. Multicam video and data lesson recordings, Face Impact Location and the Environmental Optimizer round it out for teaching, fitting and serious practice.

Carl's Place DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure
Enclosure and Screen

Carl's Place DIY Enclosure

The Carl's Place DIY Golf Simulator Enclosure builds a clean, fully contained hitting bay. Every size in this package ships with the triple-layer Premium impact screen, a pre-cut 1-inch EMT pipe framing kit, foam inserts, a pair of 8 ft net wall extensions and an overhead safety baffle. BlackStop light-absorbing fabric keeps the picture bright with less bounce-back.

Enclosure dimensions. Frame sizes are Carl's own dimensions, listed below by kit. FlightScope specifies 8 to 12 ft behind the tee for the X3C. Before you order, put a ball where the tee will go and take a slow, full swing with your longest club to confirm clearance in your space.

Frame Dimensions by Size
8'W x 8'H x 5'D (Carl's 8x8, 1:1) frame 100"W x 100"H
10'W x 7.7'H x 5'D (Carl's 7.7x10, 4:3) frame 124.8"W x 95.8"H
10.5'W x 8'H x 5'D (Carl's 8x10.5, 4:3) frame 130.3"W x 100"H
11.5'W x 8.5'H x 5'D (Carl's 8.5x11.5, 4:3) frame 140.3"W x 107.5"H
12'W x 9'H x 5'D (Carl's 9x12, 4:3) frame 146.3"W x 112"H
13'W x 7.7'H x 5'D (Carl's 7.7x13, 16:9) frame 163.3"W x 95.8"H
Real Feel Country Club Elite Golf Mat
Hitting Mat

Hitting mat

The package ships with the Real Feel Country Club Elite Golf Mat, 5'W x 5'L. Its long, dense fibers let you swing down and through the turf the way you would off a fairway, it takes a real wooden tee, and the base absorbs the strike so your joints do not.

Three Fiberbuilt mats are one click away in the builder, or remove the mat if you already have one:

  • Fiberbuilt Performance Turf Tee Box Mat, 8'W x 4'L
  • Fiberbuilt 7'x4' Grass Series Single-Hitting Studio Mat
  • Fiberbuilt 9'x4' Grass Series Center-Hitting Studio Mat (right- and left-handed)
Landing Pad

Optional: Tour Golf Landing Pad

The Tour Landing Pad cushions and quiets balls dropping off the screen, keeps them from scuffing the floor, and bridges the gap between the mat and the enclosure. The builder offers the width that matches your bay, always 8 ft long:

  • 9'W x 8'L for the 8'W enclosure
  • 11'W x 8'L for the 10'W enclosure
  • 11.5'W x 8'L for the 10.5'W enclosure
  • 12.5'W x 8'L for the 11.5'W enclosure
  • 13'W x 8'L for the 12'W enclosure
  • 14'W x 8'L for the 13'W enclosure
Optoma ZW350ST Short Throw Laser Projector
Projector

Projector and ceiling mount

The Optoma ZW350ST is the included projector: 3,600 lumens, a 30,000-hour DuraCore laser with no bulb to replace, and a 0.521:1 short throw, so it mounts close to the screen and out of the swing. Seven BenQ short-throw projectors are available in the builder, from the 1080p TH671ST to the 5,100-lumen 4K LK936ST, and the ceiling mount switches to the right model for whichever projector you choose. Remove the projector and the mount goes with it. The projector calculator shows the mount distance for your screen size.

  • Optoma ZW350ST 3600-Lumen WXGA Laser (0.521:1 throw), included
  • BenQ TH671ST 3000-Lumen 1080p (0.69-0.83:1 throw)
  • BenQ AH30ST 3000-Lumen 1080p LED (0.69-0.83:1 throw)
  • BenQ AH500ST 4000-Lumen 1080p Laser (0.5:1 throw)
  • BenQ AH700ST 4000-Lumen 1080p Laser (0.69-0.83:1 throw)
  • BenQ LK830ST 4000-Lumen 4K Laser (0.496:1 throw)
  • BenQ AK700ST 4000-Lumen 4K Laser (0.69-0.83:1 throw)

SurfThing Gaming Computer
Computer

Optional: SurfThing gaming computer and touch screen

PC simulation software such as GSPro and E6 Connect for PC runs best on a gaming-class computer, and the one you pick here arrives ready for it. SurfThing builds them for golf simulation: 32GB DDR5, a 2TB SSD and an NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPU, in a desktop tower or a laptop. With the desktop PC, add the SurfThing DT2424H 23.8-inch touch screen to start rounds, review data and scrub swing video without walking back to a keyboard. It is not offered with the laptop, which has its own screen.

  • SurfThing Enhanced Level PC: Core Ultra 5 with RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD
  • SurfThing Enhanced Level Laptop: Core Ultra 9 with RTX 5070, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD

Room and Enclosure Fit

Which Enclosure Fits the FlightScope X3C?

FlightScope places the X3C behind the tee at the setback its current setup guidance calls for and asks for at least 8 ft of ball flight.

Net

No wall or enclosure mounting is needed: the X3C goes on the floor behind the tee at the setback its current setup guidance calls for and the net catches the shot. FlightScope asks for at least 8 ft of ball flight; check the specific net you pick for its own frame depth.

Floating Screen

Every width of the Net Return Floating Screen Simulator Bay stands 8 ft 6 in tall and 3 ft 6 in deep and can sit 6 in from a wall. The X3C goes on the floor behind the tee at the setback its current setup guidance calls for.

DIY Enclosure

The Carl's DIY kit needs 19 ft 9 in of room depth with the X3C behind the ball, up from 16 ft 9 in on its own.

Pro Enclosure

The Pro enclosure needs at least 16 ft 0 in of room depth on its own, and 19 ft with the X3C behind the ball.

Curved Screen

Same 19 ft as the Pro Enclosure, both up from 16 ft 0 in on their own with the X3C behind the ball.

Built-In Screen

Carl's plans a Built-In room as 12 in behind the screen for buffer space plus 6 in to install the flaps, at least 10 ft from the screen and 7 ft of swing room in every direction. The X3C sits on the floor behind the tee at the setback its current setup guidance calls for.

Our pick: the Pro Enclosure, at 19 ft of room depth with the X3C behind the ball, or the Carl's DIY kit for less money, which fits at 19 ft 9 in.

Enter your own room width, depth and ceiling in the golf simulator builder, or read the golf simulator room size guide first.

Every size needs 19 ft 9 in of depth; width and height depend on the enclosure: 10'11"W x 8'3"H for the 10'W kit, 8'10"W x 8'7"H for the 8'W kit, 11'5"W x 8'7"H for the 10.5'W kit, 12'3"W x 9'3"H for the 11.5'W kit, 12'9"W x 9'7"H for the 12'W kit and 14'2"W x 8'3"H for the 13'W kit. That is Carl's overall frame plus 3 in on each side and above, and in depth 12 in behind the frame, the 67.375 in frame, 5 ft 1 in to the tee (10 ft from the screen) and 8 ft behind it for the FlightScope X3C: FlightScope specifies 8 to 12 ft behind the tee. What is the warranty and return policy for the FlightScope X3C DIY Enclosure Golf Simulator?

We're proud to say we are an Authorized Dealer/Distributor for all the brands we carry. Your launch monitor, projector and computer are covered by their manufacturer's warranty from the date of the original purchase, subject to its conditions and limitations. Carl's Place screens and enclosure materials are wearable goods, so they do not carry a warranty. Some marking and wear from the first sessions is normal, and how long a screen lasts depends on skill level, how often you play and how it is installed. If something looks unusual rather than like normal wear, send us photos and your order number and we will take it up with Carl's Place.

Impact screens can be returned unused. Once a screen has been hit, it cannot be returned. Because fit and material choice matter, measure your space before ordering.

Optoma projectors cannot be returned unless they arrive defective.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and enjoy it for many years to come. If you decide you want to return your product, we will gladly assist you in the process. Please inspect your purchase when your package arrives. Product received damaged must be noted with the freight carrier at time of delivery. Contact us immediately no later than 24 hours from delivery time to report the damage. We cannot accept responsibility for a damaged shipment if it is not noted as such on the freight carrier's delivery receipt. Damage must be noted at the time of delivery.

For additional details about our return process & exceptions for all the items included in the package please see our Return Policy.
