The whip is a crucible holder invented by a jeweller to make handling small melting dishes easier and safer. This listing includes the small whip handle with a ceramic crucible dish, for melting and pouring gold, silver, copper and other non-ferrous metals.

The handle is made from stainless steel wire and works in reverse: squeeze it to open, release it to clamp the dish firmly in place. It pinches the dish securely so you can tilt and pour molten metal with confidence. This small size fits the 2" and 3" melting dishes.

Safety and first use

Preheat the crucible gently before melting, and glaze the inside with borax to help the metal flow and extend the life of the dish. Always wear heat-resistant gloves and eye protection, and work on a fireproof surface in a well-ventilated area.
