Legends surrounding Saint Christopher mark his story beginning as a fierce warrior far from Christianity, yet through his conversion, he became one who brought that same Christ to those on the furthest periphery. This depiction of him with the head of a dog - popular in Eastern Christianity - symbolizes how that wild energy became a fierce loyalty to God.
