Curves, not corners! Every one of the 73 blocks in the Lara set is shaped with a gentle curve, which changes everything about what your child can build. Lay them flat and flowers, swirling patterns, and mandalas appear across the floor. Stand them up and the same pieces become baroque buildings, ships pitching in a storm, and whole worlds that no square block could manage.

Those curves make it genuinely interesting. Some arrangements lock together into sturdy, stable structures, while others balance on the finest point — and discovering which is which is half the fun. The rounded edges feel lovely in the hand and ask for careful, precise placement, which quietly builds fine motor control and patience.

The set comes in its own wooden frame, so everything has a home when the building is done, and it fits straight back on the shelf.

Why we love the Grimm's Lara Building Set:

  • 73 Curved Blocks: Rounded shapes that make floral patterns, mandalas, and sweeping structures impossible with straight blocks.
  • Flat Patterns or 3D Builds: Works both ways, so the same set is a mandala one afternoon and a towering ship the next.
  • Spielgut Award Winner: Recognised by the independent German good toy guide for play value, design, and quality.
  • Comes in a Wooden Frame: Everything stores neatly in its own tray, ready to go back on the shelf between builds.

What age is the Lara Building Set best for?
It's safety rated from age 3, with 5 and up recommended for getting the most out of it. Younger children happily lay the curved pieces into flat patterns and swirls, while the balancing, arches, and three-dimensional structures really come into their own once a child has the patience and steadiness for them.

What makes curved blocks different from regular building blocks?
Straight blocks stack predictably; curved ones don't. That unpredictability is what makes them worth having — children have to test, adjust, and work out which arrangements hold and which topple. The curves also create shapes that simply can't be made with squares, which is why the same set produces flowers, arches, and waves.

Seventy-three curves, and not a straight line in sight.
