Centurion 1K Stain Blocking and Bonding Primer CW-1123
Centurion 1K Stain Blocking and Bonding Primer CW-1123
$92.70

Centurion 1123 is a universal single component blocking and bonding primer.  CW-1123 will encapsulate dyes and tannins in 60 minutes.

1123 is temporarily unavailable. The best alternative is Envirolak T9000.

Two coats of this primer is required. You must wait at least 1 hour between coats.

Please note: 1123 does not have immediate adhesion like catalyzed 1111 and 1107. Adhesion will get noticeably better 1-3 days after application. It will continue to get better as it cures over time. Please see the guide below for sanding recommendations.

1123 is temporarily unavailable. The best alternative is Envirolak T9000.

Features:

  • Fast drying
  • Thixotropic- excellent vertical hang
  • Accepts most topcoats - check adhesion prior to full scale application
  • Water cleanup
  • Sands easy
  • Can be used with 1111 primer for the second coat to complete the encapsulation process

Centurion 1K System Guide:

  1. Clean the substrate properly with a cleaner/degreaser using abrasive pads or a bristle brush. Then rinse any residue with water.
CIC recommends a mix of Naphtha and water or Naphtha and acetone as a degreaser. However, simple green, krud cutter, or tsp may be used. Be sure thoroughly rinse with water after degreasing. Do not use denatured alcohol.
  2. Sand the surface with 150-180 grit.
  3. Clean any dust with a clean rag and water.
  4. Apply the first coat of 1123 primer at 4-6 wet mils with a 308 or 310 if you're using airless, or a 1.5-2.2 tip with an HVLP/cup gun. If the surface is open grain wood, we recommend adding 3% Medium Retarder reducer.
  5. Allow the primer to dry at least 1 hour. You will see bleeding in this coat.
  6. After 1 hour, lightly scuff the surface with a fine to very fine sponge by hand, or a 1/2" very fine, or ultra fine sponge. Or 320 grit abrasives at a low speed. CIC does not recommend film paper for this product as it can gum the paper. If you wait longer than an hour be sure to scuff the surface before applying your second coat.
  7. Apply the second coat at 4-6 mils.
  8. Allow the primer to dry for at least 1 hour. If dry times are exceeding 1 hour be sure to check substrate you are applying it to, temperature it is drying in, coating temperature, and that airflow is moving off gassing water from substrate.
  9. Scuff second coat of primer with a fine to very fine sponge by hand, a 1/2" very fine or ultra fine sponge at a lowered speed, or a paperback 320 grit abrasive at a lowered speed.
  10. If attempting to achieve a full grain fill, proceed with another
coat of 1123 following the steps above, or use 1108, 1111, or 1107.
If not, you may proceed with topcoat.
