Bluelab KCl Storage Solution keeps a pH probe wet, conditioned and reading accurately between uses. A dried-out tip is the single most common reason a pH probe stops holding calibration, and it is not always recoverable.
Fill the probe cap with solution and store the probe in it. Suits every Bluelab pH probe, including the Leap probe, the PenPlus replacement probe, the standard replacement probe, and the probes on the Guardian and pH Controller.

No. Plain water, and RO water especially, draws the salts out of the reference junction and shortens the probe's life. KCl storage solution keeps it balanced.
Sometimes. Soaking a dried probe in KCl solution for several hours can bring it back. If it still will not calibrate afterwards, the probe has reached the end of its life.
No. Calibration solutions are pH 4.0 and pH 7.0 buffers used to calibrate the meter. KCl is for storing the probe between uses. You need both.
