Hallway wall art gets seen more often than anything else in the house, usually by people walking past at speed with keys in hand. Cambridge brings together seven ceramic flowers in pistachio green, dewberry, violet blue, burnt yellow, navy and robin's egg blue, named for a university town where narrow streets and old brick passages have been hurrying students to lectures for a very long time. The palette leans cool, with the Navy Poppy and Navy Stargazer Lily setting a deep blue base, the Violet Blue Cornel Dahlia and Robin's Egg Blue French Marigold lifting it, and the Pistachio Green Rose, Dewberry Camellia and Burnt Yellow Poppy adding warmth so the run never turns cold. The flowers are shaped by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio, and their reactive glazes change subtly as you walk past. Each travels in a separate box, keyhole included. Hung along a hallway, the set gives people something to look at on their way somewhere else, which is more than most corridors manage.
