Blue brown is the color of a November landscape at dusk — earthy from one angle, cool from another, different at four in the afternoon than it was at ten in the morning. The Blue Brown Hawthorn is a ceramic wall flower, 5 inches across, one screw, no water. The hawthorn had no business arriving at this color and arrived at it anyway. The form reads as atmospherically unresolved in the best possible sense, which is what you want from something that blooms along the edges of places where things change. The hawthorn cannot argue with the result.
