Very early-season, Turban type. When fall planted, Chinese Pink delivers fresh garlic to the kitchen a remarkable 4–6 weeks ahead of most other varieties, with harvests beginning as early as late May to early June. This fast-growing variety produces heads filled with 6–10 large, easy-to-peel cloves. Chinese Pink blurs the line between hardneck and softneck types; plants nearly always produce scapes but rarely develop the tough inner core typical of hardneck garlics. Its flavor is mild to medium with a pleasant sweetness that becomes smooth and mellow in cooking, making it an approachable choice for a wide range of dishes. White outer skins, pinkish-purple inner skins, and rosy clove wrappers give this variety beautiful visual appeal. Bulbs store for about 2-4 months after harvest.
