Michael Anastassiades turns suspension into a graphic element with String Light Sphere, allowing a long cable to trace its own route through the room before arriving at a perfectly rounded luminous form. The die-cast aluminium body is finished in tactile soft-touch Black and paired with an opal polycarbonate diffuser, creating a restrained contrast between dark structure and illuminated surface. Designed for indoor use, the spherical head introduces a calm visual anchor within dining rooms, lounges, galleries and hospitality interiors while the visible cable extends the composition far beyond the fixture itself. As a String Light Sphere modern globe pendant, the design balances geometric purity with spatial freedom, giving architects and interior designers an expressive alternative to conventional centrally suspended lighting.

Flos String Light Sphere: a globe connected by architecture

The Flos String Light Sphere LED pendant lamp reflects the precise technical language associated with Flos, combining a compact spherical body with a suspension system conceived for unusually generous distances. The cable is reinforced with Kevlar and available in 12 m and 22 m configurations, allowing the light source to be positioned independently from traditional ceiling points while making the cable itself a deliberate part of the interior composition. A floor switch with integrated touch dimmer provides intuitive brightness adjustment, while the LED source can be replaced by qualified personnel for professional long-term maintenance. This combination of flexible installation and controlled direct light makes the Sphere particularly effective in spaces where illumination must respond to furniture placement rather than simply follow the architecture above.

Layered schemes alongside Flos Ceiling lights

Used together with Flos Ceiling Lights, String Light Sphere can support a layered lighting concept in which fixed architectural sources provide general illumination while the suspended globe introduces a more focused and expressive presence. The 12 m and 22 m cable options make the String Light Sphere long cable pendant especially useful across generous dining areas, open-plan living spaces, restaurants and reception environments where conventional suspension lengths would limit placement. Its rounded form softens the linear character of the cable, creating a measured contrast between trajectory and volume. The Black aluminium finish works naturally with plaster, stone, timber, concrete and metal surfaces, while the opal diffuser keeps the luminous element visually gentle enough to coexist with both minimal and richly layered interiors.

A rounded expression within Flos Pendants

Within the Flos Pendants selection, the Sphere by Michael Anastassiades x Flos develops the String Light concept through one of lighting design’s most elemental forms: the globe. Unlike a conventional spherical pendant light, however, its identity comes equally from the cable that crosses the architecture and from the luminous body at its endpoint. The String Light Sphere hanging globe light can punctuate a dining table, define a seating group or act as a visual marker within circulation spaces while maintaining open sightlines and minimal material presence. Whether specified individually or as part of a more complex arrangement, its soft-touch aluminium construction, opal polycarbonate diffuser, adjustable LED output and extended suspension options allow light to become part of the spatial drawing itself, creating a refined relationship between geometry, movement and contemporary architectural atmosphere.
