Carnation - Original Painting on Paper

Carnation, This paintings marks a change in direction for the series of paintings. I move from still life settings to flowers. I've painted lots of flowers before. With this piece I tried to capture some of the interesting lines of the flower. I added a shadow to give extra drama and contrast and also to give the flower a sense of context in the picture. 

Daily Challenge: This daily art process involve trying out some new art supplies like gouache and mixed media. I've spent years using acrylic paint. In this daily challenge I experiment with a few different mixed mediums and methods. Playing keeps creativity alive and exciting!!!D
