Peperomia is a vast genus of tropical plants native to Central and South America. They are popular for their incredibly diverse foliage, ranging from thick, succulent, glossy leaves to crinkled, velvety textures. Many species are semi-succulents, storing water in their stems and leaves, which makes them very forgiving of neglect. They are small, compact, and non-toxic, making them ideal for shelves and desktops. They produce small, spike-like flowers (inflorescences) that are often likened to mouse tails.
