Monstera is a genus of large, climbing evergreen vines native to the tropical forests of Central America. It is famous for its massive, leathery, dark green leaves that develop characteristic holes (fenestrations) and splits as they mature. This adaptation helps the plant withstand strong winds (hence 'Hurricane Plant') and allows light to reach lower leaves. It is a highly sought-after houseplant for its dramatic, tropical look.
