Recommended for targeted testing of ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EGBE) in drinking water. EGBE (also called 2-Butoxyethanol) is a colorless liquid with a mild odor that is used as a solvent in resins, varnishes and lacquers. It is also used as an ingredient in paint thinners, herbicides, household products and cosmetics. At high concentrations, EGBE can irritate the eyes and skin and cause headaches and vomiting. Animal studies have shown adverse impacts on blood.
