COLOR STORY: Old World Chartreuse is a citrusy hue that feels alive, a shifting shade that you really have to see in person to fully understand.
The process of creating Old World Chartreuse is a bit of a journey. We start by hand-dyeing the silk with chlorophyllin, an extract from dark leafy greens. Once that base is set, we over-dye it with marigold flowers. It’s this layering of nature’s own pigments—mixing a vibrant teal green with the warmth of mustard yellow—that gives us such a bold citrus tone with a distinct vintage feel.
What makes Old World Chartreuse so special is how much of a color shifter it is. It plays with the colors around it in a really fascinating way. Place it next to green, and you’ll see the yellow notes sing; pair it with yellow or darker hues, and the green undertones step forward. It manages to feel both antiqued and contemporary at the same time, bridging the gap between old-world charm and modern vibrancy.
COLOR NOTES: Each batch varies in intensity. While each ribbon has the same tone and feel, the vibrancy can vary. This living color will appear greener, depending on the surrounding colors.
