The Akari BB2-K1 has the distinction of being the only Akari light sculpture still in production that Noguchi designed using silk as the primary material, instead of mulberry bark washi paper. The open-topped square silk shade cinches to a fine lower point with a red silk cord. It is set over one of Noguchi’s earliest designs for Akari: a stone-like cast iron base and bamboo stem.
