The Akari 70XL is among the wave of new Akari light sculptures designed by Isamu Noguchi in the 1960s, and the larger in a pair of related models, with the 45XL. It features mulberry bark washi paper, irregular, widely-spaced bamboo ribbing (higo), and a form resembling a rectangular prism.
