The Akari JP is among the Akari light sculptures that Isamu Noguchi designed twenty five years after the start of the series. It features mulberry bark washi paper, and, like the Akari J1, its form resembles a long, torsioned rectangular prism. Unlike the J1, it is assembled entirely without bamboo ribbing (higo). The lack of ribbing and folded construction creates complex textures throughout the surface of the paper.
