The Akari L3 is among the Akari light sculptures Isamu Noguchi designed about twenty five years after the start of the series. It features mulberry bark washi paper and is constructed with minimal bamboo ribbing (higo). Its long, wide and complex form resembles a pair of stacked and rotated rectangular antiprisms, placed above a pair of rectangular prisms. The lack of ribbing and folded construction creates complex textures throughout the surface of the paper.
