Javelin Juncus is a tall, upright, grass-like perennial with stiff, blue-green foliage that creates a bold, architectural accent in the landscape. Its strong vertical form provides structure in garden beds and containers, while its inconspicuous flowers keep the focus on the foliage.
The narrow leaves turn straw-tan in fall and retain their upright form through winter, adding lasting texture and seasonal interest. Though its flowers and seedpods are not especially showy, the foliage provides a distinctive display throughout the year.
Javelin grows best in full sun and moist to wet soil, including shallow standing water, but it also tolerates heat and periods of drought once established. Its adaptability to both wet sites and drier garden conditions makes it useful for pond edges, rain gardens, and other challenging areas.
