The Constellations Area Rug turns the floor into a window to the night sky, with a rich, repeating pattern of line-drawn constellations, shooting stars, and twinkling stars in yellow, purple, teal, and white set against a deep navy background.
| Size | Best For |
|---|---|
| 6' x 8'4 | Smaller classrooms, reading corners, or morning meeting spaces |
| 7'6 x 12' | Full-class circle time and larger astronomy or space units |
Ideal for full-class circle time, morning meetings, and space or astronomy units in preschool, kindergarten, and elementary classrooms, this rug offers wonderful visual interest while remaining calm and sophisticated, a quieter counterpoint to the collection's brighter, high-energy pieces and well suited to morning meetings, quiet reading, or focused group discussion.
The constellation pattern helps introduce children to the night sky, constellations, and basic astronomy concepts in a fun, accessible way, giving teachers a built-in visual anchor for science conversation without extra materials or setup.
Teaching Ideas
Use the constellations, shooting stars, and stars scattered across the rug to introduce basic astronomy vocabulary. Have students find and point out a constellation before settling in for circle time or morning meeting.
Trace the line-drawn constellations with a finger, count how many stars form each shape, or compare constellations by size and star count for early math and observation skills.
The quieter navy palette makes this rug a natural fit for morning meetings, quiet reading, or reflective storytelling, use it to set a calm tone before reading a night-sky picture book aloud.
