Claustrophobia is the fear of being closed into a small space.

The fear of being in a closed room is not entirely abnormal. It may be connected to an evolutionary reaction to danger, since having enough space around you can help you fight or escape in case of danger.

Claustrophobia is ranked as one of the top ten most common phobias.
