Dedfish  by Maria Jose explores the unexpected beauty of natural history imagery. A skeletal fish illustration is rendered in intricate black linework against a muted green field, surrounded by the irregular edges and subtle imperfections of aged paper.

Part scientific study, part contemporary art piece, the work plays with the visual language of antique zoological illustrations while giving it a cleaner, more modern presence. The deep forest green palette adds richness and makes the intricate skeletal form feel almost sculptural.

An unusual addition to an eclectic gallery wall, kitchen, study, or contemporary interior, this piece brings together vintage character, natural history, and a slightly offbeat sensibility.
