This rug was woven by a group of artisans from a village just outside Beni M’rirt, located in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains.
The design was originally created by the artisans of Anzal, a women-only association in southeastern Morocco, and has since been adapted using the traditional Beni M’rirt knot. Thicker than the knotting techniques often used in rugs from the south, this style gives the piece a plush, textural feel underfoot.
Woven from 100% live wool, the rug is dyed with natural spice, herb, and plant-based dyes to create its bold color combination.
The design feels modern in its composition, yet it carries forward thousands of years of artistic tradition.
