Ferns of every size tumble down a low mossy step in this cool corner of the glasshouse, their fronds layered from deep shade to bright new green. Ivy trails across the sloping roof, and pots of coral geraniums sit on a bench with two watering cans. Outside, a flowering shrub leans against the old brick wall in full sun.

Its deep greens and quiet shade make it a restful choice for a bedroom, or for a reading corner of the living room. The Conservatory Garden collection has nine paintings set in and around one Victorian glasshouse, and this one hangs beautifully with Inside the Glasshouse and The Stone Basin.
