An old stone wall, softened with moss and trailing ivy, runs to a wooden sluice gate where the millrace is let through. The water moves quickly past mossy boulders on the near bank, catching small flashes of light, while beyond the wall a pale meadow stretches to a line of copper trees. A warm break in the gray clouds lightens the sky.
Earthy and understated, it suits a home office or a dining room with plenty of natural wood. Bridge over the Mill Stream and The Woodland Edge pair well with it, and both come from the Autumn at the Mill collection, nine paintings of one watermill and its streams, paths and woods.
