Three pale birch trunks rise along the left edge, their papery bark flecked with dark marks and moss and their leaves turned to autumn gold. Between them the view opens onto blue water, where the stone lodge and its boathouse sit on the far shore below hills trailing mist. Warm grasses and mossy boulders fill the bank in the foreground.
The honeyed gold and cool blue make it an easy choice for an entryway or a study, and it holds its own on a narrow wall beside a window. Part of the Highland Stillness collection, nine paintings of one quiet loch estate in the Scottish hills, it sits well beside The Wooden Jetty and Window on the Loch.
