Worn smooth and touched with lichen, granite steps run down beside a stone wall toward rocks and moving water. From the top, the view crosses a wide bay to the village on the far shore, where a small lighthouse marks the breakwater and a few sailboats lie at anchor. Soft gray light covers everything, and the sea shifts between slate and green.
The long view across the water makes it a calming piece for an office, or for a living room wall that needs some depth. In the Atlantic Harbour collection, nine paintings of the same granite harbor village, it pairs beautifully with The Net Loft and Beneath the Seawall.
