Spring has reached the orchard, and the old fruit trees are covered in pale pink and white blossom. Long grass sweeps across the foreground, dotted with a few wildflowers, and between the trunks a limestone farmhouse and a dark cypress appear in the middle distance. The colors are soft and airy, mostly sage, cream and blush, under a sky of drifting cloud.
The airy palette suits a bedroom especially well, and it brings fresh, quiet color to a breakfast corner or dining room. Part of the French Country Light collection, it is one of nine paintings of a stone farmhouse and the land around it, and it pairs well with Across the Meadow and The Open Window.
