Origin and Habitat

• Native Region: Lake Malawi-wide distribution; Kambiri form in the aquarium trade.
• Natural Habitat: Sediment-rich shallow water and sandy areas.

Physical Characteristics

• Size: 7-8 inches.
• Coloration: Mature males develop the strongest color, while females and juveniles are more understated.
• Body Shape: Slender hap body suited for sand-oriented foraging.

Behavior and Temperament

• Temperament: Mildly aggressive.
• Social Behavior: Best with peacocks and haps that are not overly rough or much larger.

Aquarium Care

• Tank Size: A 75 gallon aquarium or larger is recommended.
