Blueberry OB Peacock

Blueberry OB Peacock is a line-bred OB peacock strain with a mainly blue-and-white look and variable accents of yellow, red, orange, or black. Each fish can mature a little differently, which gives this strain its individual appeal.

Origin and Habitat

• Native Region: Line-bred aquarium strain from Lake Malawi peacock stock.
• Natural Habitat: Captive-bred strain; provide the sand, rock cover, and open swimming space used for Malawi peacocks.

Physical Characteristics

• Size: 6-7 inches.
• Coloration: Mainly blue and white with possible yellow, red, orange, and black accents.
• Body Shape: Medium peacock body with a laterally compressed profile.

Behavior and Temperament

• Temperament: Mildly aggressive.
• Social Behavior: Best with other peacocks and peaceful to moderately assertive haps.

Aquarium Care

• Tank Size: A 55 gallon aquarium or larger is recommended.
• Water Parameters: 74-84°F, pH 7.4-8.4, hard water.
• Tank Setup: Provide sand, open swimming space, rockwork for cover and sight breaks, and strong filtration.

Diet and Feeding

• Primary Staple: Feed a quality daily diet such as Ron’s Peacock & Hap Adult Food.
• Juveniles: Growing fish can be fed Ron’s Juvenile Food.
• Fry: Newly released fry should be started on Ron’s Fry Food.
• Feeding Frequency: Feed 1–2 small meals daily and avoid overfeeding.

Breeding

• Breeding Type: Maternal mouthbrooder.
• Breeding Notes: Males display and females mouthbrood eggs and fry. Keep strain projects separated if preserving the Blueberry OB look.

Tank Mates

• Compatible With: Lake Malawi peacocks and calmer haps of similar size.
• Avoid: Very aggressive mbuna, large predators, and mixing similar OB lines in breeding groups.
