Keith Urban has spent three decades reshaping what country guitar can sound like, and his restless approach to the instrument has always pushed the genre toward unexpected places. *flow state* arrives as his most recent studio statement, a title that nods to the kind of locked-in improvisation that live music fans understand instinctively. Urban's New Zealand roots and Nashville adoption have always given him a slightly outsider's perspective on the form, and that tension continues to be one of the most interesting things about his catalog.
