Prog rock doesn't get more foundational than the era captured here, when Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, and Bill Bruford were rewriting what rock music could actually do. Yes built architecture where other bands built songs, and the tracks collected on this compilation represent the peaks of that ambition, the moments when side-long suites and virtuosic interplay became the point, not the excess.
