Wind & Wuthering arrived in early 1977 as the last Genesis album to feature guitarist Steve Hackett, whose departure after the sessions marked a genuine turning point in the band's evolution. Rooted in prog's most ambitious tendencies, with literary and pastoral imagery running throughout, it stands as a bookend to the classic five-piece lineup that had defined the band's most adventurous years.
