Authentic vintage DCM (Dining Chair Metal) designed by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller, dating to the 1950s–early 1960s.

This example features molded birch plywood seat and back panels with beautifully aged honey-amber patina, mounted to a tubular steel base with large shock mounts and early-style domes-of-silence glides. Beneath the seat remains a partial original Herman Miller manufacturer label with visible production markings and surviving “HERMAN MILLER” text, providing strong evidence of authenticity and original manufacture.

The chair exhibits the elegant molded plywood profile, exposed laminated edges, and visual lightness that established the DCM as one of the most celebrated designs of the twentieth century. Particularly attractive is the warm coloration developed through decades of natural aging, highlighting the grain and sculptural contours of the molded plywood shells.

Presented in well-preserved vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, oxidation, finish variation, and patina consistent with decades of use. The plywood surfaces have been gently cleaned and sympathetically refreshed to preserve their character and material richness while maintaining an authentic vintage appearance. Early components remain intact, with thoughtful stabilization and preservation performed over time consistent with the maintenance commonly seen on vintage Eames molded plywood seating.

Structurally sound and visually striking from every angle, this is a highly desirable Herman Miller example that balances originality, usability, and honest vintage character. Equally suited for use as a dining chair, desk chair, accent chair, or addition to a serious mid-century modern collection.
