Known as the Tetraploid tea plant or Camellia sinensis var. assamica, ‘Large Leaf’ is a distinguished evergreen shrub renowned for both its impressive tea yield and ornamental appeal. This cultivar features notably large leaves, measuring up to 6 inches long and 3 inches wide, characterized by their thick, dark green surface and pronounced serrated edges. Its vigorous growth habit results in a multi-trunked tree that can reach 15 feet tall if unpruned, though it can also be managed as a smaller shrub to facilitate harvesting. These qualities make it a superior choice for high-quality tea production.
